Magnolia Blue has arrived!!

We are so excited that Magnolia Blue Cory was born on October 22, 2007 at 5:14 a.m. She weighed 8lbs. 9 oz. (despite coming two weeks early) and was 20 1/2 inches long! She was born at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana.

The birth experience was great...they started inducing labor at 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 21 because the amniotic sac had torn and they didn't want to risk infection. Jenica had mild and medium-strength contractions throughout the night but had both sets of parents, Aunt Kathy and sister Brooke (and of course her baby daddy) around to distract her.

The calm before the storm....

Around 1 a.m. the nurse told us that she was almost fully dialated and ready to go, so everyone got ready for action. The nurse called the doctor and got him out of bed to come in for the delivery. Unfortunately the nurse had made a mistake and we still had a few hours to go! The doctor wasn't very happy about being dragged out of bed...he told the nurse she should go back to nursing school in front of all of us! We felt really bad for her.

The Grandmothers patiently awaiting news!

Luckily it didn't take as long as expected from that point and the real pushing began around 3:30 a.m.

Grandma Hamacher and Dad each held a leg and Brooke took pictures (Jenica did all of the pushing of course). Magnolia entered the world about 1 hour and 45 minutes later at 5:14 a.m.!

Fresh from the oven!

Dad was a little surpised by how much she resembled a blue rubber doll when she first arrived. Luckily, once the doctor cleared her airway and she got some oxygen in her, she looked like a real live human baby within a few minutes. And now she's the prettiest baby that anyone's ever seen (we've received confirmation on this from a number of people....including nurses that see hundreds of babies every day) ;)

The new family!!!!

Perfect baby! She can be anything her heart desires! Maybe she'll be an ambassador, so she can work in an MBC!
