Back home again....
It's been a long time since our last post....been a little hectic getting back into the groove of school and Magnolia's sleep schedule (okay, so that's a completely new groove). We are so thankful for the opportunity to have gone on such nice vacations and to have all of the respective families together. But it's also good to be home now. We finally got Magnolia to church this morning (she usually sleeps in too late). She was a big hit! It's hard to believe that she's over 3 months now already. She looks at us and smiles and coos a lot now. We're thinking that it won't be long before the laughs begin....can't wait!

Hawaii Vacation - Installment 6
Well, our days of island living are dwindling. We'll be heading out tomorrow afternoon. We're ready to be home, but definitely not ready to leave and DEFINITELY not ready to go back to school. Ah well, we had a good run while it lasted.
We learned that Magnolia has a thing for ceiling fans....obsession is probably a more accurate term. When she would wake up and look up and see the fan spinning, she would break out in a huge smile and coo and stare at it for a good while. Needless to say we'll be getting some fans when we get home to keep her happy!

I said "serious faces"....at least somebody listens to me.

I've got her in the palm of my hand.

"Hey, you're a funny looking ceiling fan."

Twiddling her thumbs (or something like that)

"Whoa.....morning breath."

Big smiles for Mom

In this one, I told her to go for a look that was "mournful and longing." Personally, I think she nailed it.

Hawaii Vacation - Installment 5
It was getting a little hot in Hawaii with a full beard, so Dad decided to get rid of it. But a full shave was a pretty big commitment:

"Mustaches are so boring, Dad"
It has been really sunny, so Magnolia decided to bust out the sunglasses that Mimi got for her:

"I come from the future."
Mom trying to keep Magnolia's long, golden locks under control.

Glamour Shots pose

So dramatic

Magnolia may be thinking this is her "home" now....going to be in shock when we get back to South Bend (20 degrees and snow)!

Hawaii Vacation - Installment 4
We're still having a great time here in Hawaii. Not doing much....just hanging around the house, getting some sun and enjoying not reading any law books. Uncle Pete and Aunt Mel arrived safely (less than 24 hours later than planned) and miraculously, their luggage arrived shortly thereafter. Magnolia continues to be well-documented:

Hawaii Vacation - Installment 3
The vacation has been extremely relaxing. We've just been spending a lot of time hanging around the house and being with the family and the little one. Pete and Melissa were supposed to come in this afternoon, but there was a mix-up with their itinerary and they are temporarily stranded in Las Vegas. We're hoping they will arrive early tomorrow, but we're not sure what's going on at this point. We'll keep you updated.....
Magnolia has been good....a little congested still, but slept really well last night. We tried taking her out for a walk down the beach yesterday, but it was just a little too windy for her.

Ready for a walk

"Let's go!"
We also took a drive down to the western part of the island, where there is not much development....very beautiful area. Much love to everyone reading!

Hawaii Vacation 2007 - Installment 2
We're a few days into to our vacation and we're having a great time. We've had some rain on and off the last couple of days, so we haven't been spending as much time outside as planned, but at least it's given us time to watch some bowl games and update this blog. :)
We've been finding out the history of the house we're staying in because we're convinced that it's probably the best house you can find in Hawaii. The property is about an acre right on the ocean, which is rare - and it has a big geen backyard and a pool that circulates salt water from the ocean.
It turns out that it has been in the same family since 1956. The current owner's father bought 3 acres on the coast when Kauai wasn't very developed. Apparently, his friends thought it was a little crazy because there wasn't much on this island then, but obviously it was a good buy. He built the salt water pool by hand and it is still there today.
The current owner and his sisters grew up here, living in the house year-round. The house was destroyed by a hurricane in 1982 and then another hurricane in 1992. The current house was built in 2001.

The living room has big sliding glass doors that open all the way up so that you almost feel like you're sitting outside when you're in there.
